About First Person Audio

Thanks for visiting my site! I hope you enjoy your stay here. I launched this site on July 31, 2020 as The Audacity Bootcamp as an additional resource for podcast editors and producers who use Audacity. I rebranded it in August of 2021 to First Person Audio in order to broaden the scope of what I want to do. But you’ll find my podcast still under the name, the Audacity Bootcamp podcast.

I recently retired from a 39-year career in electronics technology from a major electric utility in Arizona and I’m currently a podcast host, editor, and producer. My audio recording and production experience began in the mid-1990s with a pro audio software called Cakewalk. I started podcasting professionally in March, 2015 and I currently host, edit, and produce 3 separate podcasts.

Audio production has been a passion of mine for years but due to my full-time job, it’s always been on the back burner as more of a hobby. Now that I’ve retired, I have more time to pour into my passion and learn and teach others what I’ve learned and how to avoid the mistakes I’ve made in podcast editing. I’ve taken several courses on podcast editing and production, mostly to see what others do and compare it to my own processes. I’ve learned a lot from others, but mostly, I’m self-taught, which I think is a good thing because podcasting has become more a part of me as something I’ve worked hard to learn.

Audio editing and production is both an art and a science and while we can become more skilled in our audio production one never truly masters it to the point of having nothing left to learn. I’ve discovered through teaching Audacity, both how much I now know about it and how much I don’t know and still need to learn. I think that’s true of any topic or subject we set out to master. There’s a sense in which it masters us at the same time.

I hope you’ll take a look at the Audacity course I offer at Udemy. The link is in the sidebar as well as on my homepage. I cover a wide range of topics in that course that I don’t see in most other Audacity podcast courses. I also offer a course on the Zoom H6 recorder if that interests you. Each course I offer includes select lecture videos that you can watch for free before buying to help you decide if enrolling is something you want to do. In addition, each course comes with Udemy’s 30-day money-back guarantee.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions. Enjoy your stay!
